Master Bedroom Progress...finally!

TGIF! This weekend could not get here fast enough! I have a feeling the month of May is going to be a crazy one!! But I did manage to clean and get our Master Bedroom put together enough to give you a peek at what I've been up to. One year ago, the room looked a little something like this:

Then, we painted the room and the furniture (gotta use what we've got!) which brought us here:

THEN we got our beloved hardwoods put in as a gift from my ah-mazing in-laws. Here she is today!

Yes, you've seen that cup before but I'm a little short on staging accessories at the moment (hence my excitement our upcoming IKEA trip that I mentioned here). I got this mannequinn on eBay and use it to house my necklaces. The chair was free--my favorite kind! And I obviously still need to hang that mirror up.

The rest of my jewelry found a home in my Anthro egg crate and TJ Maxx bowl! I had to represent my summer shoe of choice--TOMS!

Guest Bedroom Progress and Details!

Happy Monday! I took some PROGRESS shots of the Guest Bedroom this weekend now that we have the bedding and both nightstands set up! Master Bedroom updates will be coming later this week!

First, we stopped at Sam's Club and I picked up 15 tulips for $10! Did I mention I LOVE tulips?!

I had enough to fill a couple of vases and decided to spread the love...into the Guest Room!

There she is! I'm loving it so much that I want to sleep in there for a night or two!

Now for the deets:

Striped Duvet Cover and Shams...Target for $25! Are you as shocked as I was after eyeing this puppy for the last 6 months?

Metal Accordion Side Table...Urban Outfitters for a mere $64! I lurve this table.

Light Blue Side Table...Urban Outfitters for $129. I'm sad to report that it's sold out (I had to wait 3 weeks because it was on backorder!). However, it's called the Genevieve Side Table and I'm sure it will be back since it was such a hit! Does it remind you of this piece? Only half the cost :)

OH! And we just booked our summer vacay and I'm SO. EXCITED. because they have an IKEA there! I'm starting to save NOW. I've got to get something on those walls!

This Little Nightstand of Mine...

...I'm gonna let it shine :)

Yep...my new nightstand and I'm in love. The room is slowly starting to come together and I couldn't be more excited! I'm working on LOTS of projects so updates will be coming soon!

Getting Ready for Guests!

TGIF! With high hopes of having some guests this summer, I've got my Guest Bedroom on the brain. I haven't touched it since we moved in so I'm starting from scratch. Here's what I came up with this morning...

I've been eyeing Caitlin Wilson's Textiles and got inspired by her color scheme. I want something feminine but a place guys would like too. The bed frame I have is actually my grandpa's that he used growing up. It's similar to the one pictured, but has blonde wood that I'll be staining a dark walnut. Sooo whatcha think? Too boring? Too girly? Just right? I'd love your opinions! See you next week!

Jewelry Organizing Weekend Fun

I hope everyone is enjoying their long holiday weekend! As the Mr. will tell you, I'm not one to spend my days off sitting around. I have to accomplish something or all week I have my "to do" list running through my head. Since I'm saving my pennies for a couple of office projects, I wanted to do something super inexpensive. With the holidays just around the corner, I figured now would be a great time to catch up on some organization around our abode so we can focus on the important things (like sweet treats and time with family) once November and December roll around. It didn't take me long to find my first task at hand...my jewelry clutter. Here's the stash:

Yep, those are gallon size Ziploc baggies filled with jewelry. Between our wedding, honeymoon, moving into the new house, and a couple of trips in between, that's where everything ended up after packing and unpacking and repacking. So I did what any good organizer would do. Time to sort. Here's my donate pile:

If you are having a hard time getting rid of items, I like the 1 year rule. If you're still having trouble, watch one episode of Hoarders and you'll be cured. I found a great bowl at TJ Maxx for $3.99 and thought it would be the perfect jewelry holder.

When looking for a jewelry bowl, make sure it's got high sides for those longer earrings and large enough to hold all of your goodies. Here she is, all full and serving her purpose!

And in her new home on my dresser:

So simple and only cost me $4 buckaroos! For your entertainment, here are some pretty little bowls to start your Labor Day off right!
