Nursery Inspiration Board

Let the baby planning begin!  Who am I kidding...give me a reason to shop, paint and decorate and I am one happy camper!  Here's what I've come up with so far:

We are hoping to marry rustic + modern.  My main goal was to create something not too baby, that would grow with her.  Our biggest task is to get our bench seat built in the nook area.  We'll be painting bold, black and white stripes in the nook, and Sherwin-Williams Worldly Grey will be on the rest of the walls in the room.  I'm using Caitlin Wilson's Navy Fleur Chinoise Fabric as the starting point of the color scheme.  I've already scored that ah-mazing lamp and created my "You Are My Sunshine" art!  Now to clean all the clutter out of the room so we can start on it already!

Battle of the Bathroom

Our Master Bathroom has not been touched since the day we moved in...over a year ago.  To be honest, it scares me.  The idea of attempting to paint it haunts me at night.  Okay, that may be a bit dramatic but this puppy is going to take HOURS just to do the cutting in.  However, there is no time like the present and I'm tired of avoiding it.  Here's the gameplan:

I'm so excited!  I still have some searching to do just to make sure there isn't anything I want to change.  My favorite part--the Duralee fabric that I will be making into my shower curtain that will go floor to ceiling. Oh, and the light fixtures.  Swoon.

What kind of summer projects do you have up your sleeve?  Anyone painted a bathroom painlessly?

Getting Ready for Guests!

TGIF!  With high hopes of having some guests this summer, I've got my Guest Bedroom on the brain.  I haven't touched it since we moved in so I'm starting from scratch.  Here's what I came up with this morning...

I've been eyeing Caitlin Wilson's Textiles and got inspired by her color scheme.  I want something feminine but a place guys would like too.  The bed frame I have is actually my grandpa's that he used growing up.  It's similar to the one pictured, but has blonde wood that I'll be staining a dark walnut.  Sooo whatcha think?  Too boring?  Too girly?  Just right?  I'd love your opinions!  See you next week!

Hutch Design Board

TGIF!  I'm leaving you with a Design Board I threw together for a friend wanting to spruce up a hutch she already owns!  After completing it, I decided I need to find a hutch a.s.a.p!

Modern Nursery Design Board

After finding all of those amazing mustard yellow and dusty pink combinations out there in the beautiful land of Pinterest, I decided to create my own.  How cute would those colors be in a modern nursery?  So, I made one.  And I love it!

1. Number Wall Art-cute enough for a nursery up through the toddler years, but artsy when placed elsewhere in the home.  A great addition to any office or living room.

2. White Resin Deer Head-modern rustic at it's best.  Adds an element of surprise in a girl's nursery, but the glossy white finish softens the look.

3. Eames Rocker-a great rocker and an even better statement piece.  Bonus points if you have an original!

4. Striped Rug-another great item that will get lots of use years down the road!

5. Panel Crib-this crib also converts into a toddler bed.

6. Bird Mobile-loved the textures, sophistication and price!  Thinking this would be a great DIY too!

7. Tulip Pillow-these really tie the room together and would look super cute in a guest bedroom!

9. Amy Butler fabrics for bedding and curtains-Honeycomb Linen , Martini Linen, Fresh Poppies Ivory (I even found the crib set here)

There are a few things (besides the color combo) that I really love about this room.  The rocker, rug, deer mount, art, and pillows could all be reused elsewhere after the baby has grown out of them.  Who wants to buy a bunch of decor for just a couple of years anyways?  Not to mention it isn't obvious nursery decor.  There is a slight sophistication when you use mustard instead of bright yellow.  And the mobile is genius.  The rustic stick hanger paired with the texture of the birds is art in itself.

Once upon a time, there was a desk...

...it had beautiful modern lines and a mere $30 price tag on Craigslist.  So me, the mister, and the pup hopped in the truck and headed west to Oklahoma.  Two hours and a venti Skinny Vanilla Latte later, I had her safely placed in the garage ready to get my sand on.

This desk got me thinking.  This could be the inspiration for our office/craft room.  We currently have a formal dining room and eat-in kitchen (check them out here).  However, a formal dining room doesn't really fit into our personalities or lifestyle, so why not turn that room into a craft room?  Done.  Now I just have to figure out what direction I want to go with the room, and my new-found desk, and put something together as a mini inspiration board.

A couple of days ago, I showed you all some mid-century modern eye candy I'd been lusting over.  I knew I wanted to marry the modern style of the desk with other traditional and rustic pieces.  This ensures I get the style and comfort that I want in the room, and the Mr. gets a space he wants to work in as well.  Here's what I came up with:
